Getting on an elephant is not easy.
My cousin Alice-Anne and her husband Robert’s trip to Cambodia began with an elephant trek to the top of a mountain.

Our trek ended with a sunset over Angkor Wat viewed from the top of a mountain next to other ancient Angkor ruins. (I had to pinch myself several times today to make sure this was real).

Yes, it was very, very hot today as we hiked.
To re-energize Robert and Alice-Anne, I fed them one of Southeast Asia’s delicacies: Fertilized baby duck eggs. (Closing your eyes is the key to enjoying this treat.)

Unfortunately not everyone was happy about Robert and Alice-Anne’s arrival. The little girl we met at lunch was especially terrified of the three white people.
Other pics from Robert and Alice-Anne’s first day in Cambodia:

It feels incredible to have them here. And, they brought me a big bag of goodies from Japan that included wasabi-flavored Kit-Kats!
Tomorrow we’ll spend the day exploring the temples up close.

WOW! How totally cool!!! Alice-Anne’s face in the first picture is priceless! This just seems incredible that you can do something like this. I know you are going to have an incredible time together! Keep the posts coming!
Love you!
I wish I were there with you. Have fun.
Wow! You guys don’t miss a beat, do you! What an incredible trek, Travis. How far in advance did you have to “reserve” this, as I would imagine you can’t just “show up”….. Angkor Wat, please tell us a little more about this ~ I read up on the temples thru wikipedia, thinking it was maybe one of the “wonders of the world”. Love to you all! Becky, Mom, Aunt Becky etc!!!!
Don’t forget Alice Anne – Left foot forward…….Peace and blessings:)
